Before a Spiritual Awakening
Any time God desires to bring us into deeper revelation He first gives us a small portion of it so that we will begin to desire and seek out the fullness of what He has in store.
God gives us a proverbial carrot to see, desire and pursue. The nice thing about this pursuit is that when we do get what we have been seeking we find that there is so much more there than what we had expected.
The First Taste
It all begins with a hint of what is to come… the first fruits taste for the coming harvest.
God will reveal something beyond what we have experienced before.
Sometimes it will be something we have been learning about and others it will seemingly come from nowhere… but there it is.
Most often, when it is a gift of the Spirit such as healing or prophecy it will happen in a corporate setting, with a corporate anointing.
This is where we often run into problems.
The Big Mistake
When we experience something new in a corporate setting it is very easy to believe it was something God has already given to us.
The truth though is that God has allowed us to taste something that somebody else has paid the price for and God is moving in their lives to make you hungry for what is available.
God lets their anointing get on you so that you will desire it. God wants you to have that gift but you must still show Him that you desire it enough to pay the price, to show yourself worthy.
Digging In
The next step is always the hardest.
This is where most people fail.
Once they are used in a corporate setting for some gift, healing for example, they believe that they have been given the gift of healing.
Unfortunately, no price has been paid and there is no foundation of character building that would be required to carry that anointing.
The next time that person goes out to heal the sick nothing happens, confusion sets in, doubt takes over, the process stops and consequently that person never grows into the man or woman of God that God desired.
This is because they mistakenly thought that the first-fruit was the harvest.
What we must do instead is pursue God even through the failures and see what it was He wants to teach us from this failure.
As we pursue God for more He awakens our spirit to teach us and gives us the grace to grow so that we too can carry the anointing He had given us a taste of.
Show God that you are willing to seek even when you don’t see the fruit of your labors.
There Is Always More
It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, But the glory of kings is to search out a matter.
Proverbs 25:2
What God is doing is He is giving us the opportunity to seek the gift out.
Rarely will He give us something for free. God hides His gifts from us because it brings us glory when we seek them out and find them.
He give us a taste then hides them until we are mature enough to handle them.
This can be frustrating at times but know that it is for our good. When we have tasted something beautiful one time then seem to find nothing but frustration when we seek it again… know that God wants to give you what you seek.
Do not get frustrated, instead seek more and show God that you are worthy.
Know also that the more precious a gift is, the more you will have to seek out that blessing.
