Don’t Eat That
Last night I had some leftover Chinese food. I had already finished dinner and just wanted a little snack… boy did I regret that decision.
I had a low-grade headache for about 30 minutes after eating the cheap, MSG-laden, greasy, plate of noodles and beef. I was planning on having the rest of it for lunch but I don’t know that I want to put my body through that again…
Here’s your health tip for the day… when you get a headache after eating something… don’t eat it anymore.
Everything you consume affects you and I’m not just talking about food.
Perhaps more important than what you consume with your mouth is what you consume with your eyes and ears.
I’ve noticed that the more I watch ministers who are out healing the sick, raising the dead, cleansing the lepers and casting out demons the more I have a drive to do the same.
In the same way, when I’m reading Men’s Health or listening to a fitness podcast I want to get down to 8% body fat and compete in the CrossFit games.
Our brains don’t do the best job of deciphering what is reality and what we are simply watching/hearing and every time you consume some form of entertainment, your subconscious brain thinks you are actually experiencing it.
It’s not until that experience goes through the part of your brain that filters out reality and fiction that you realize it’s not actually you competing. This is why your heart rate will go up and you will have a physical reaction as if you were physically there.
How can you use this to your advantage?
Well, it depends on what your goals are. Who do you want to be? There are podcasts on virtually every subject imaginable. Find a podcast (or any other form of media for that matter) by the best of the best in the field you want to become an expert in.
Listen to it and allow yourself to relive their stories. As you do this you will soon find yourself beginning to think like them and view situations the way they would.
The chemistry of your brain will literally change to be more like theirs because you’ve allowed them to influence you.
For better or worse you are what you eat…
