I Have All The Emotions!
God’s been doing something funny to me lately…
He’s been giving me emotions again.
Not that I’ve been totally numb, I’ve had my basic emotions, but lately, it’s like a light switch has been turned on and I suddenly have all the emotions.
I’m like that high school girl crying at every movie I watch.
I’m not sure at what point I put up the emotional walls or how long I’ve been this way. I have a couple of ideas from times when I’ve been hurt or disappointed but it really doesn’t matter now because the walls are down.
It hurts to have emotions like this but it allows you to love so much deeper also.
I’m reminded of King David. A true man’s man, leader of the “mighty men,” killer of giants, went from rags to riches, a prime example of masculinity…
…also willing to openly weep, write poetry, dance, play music and many other things modern society views as less masculine.
Even Yeshua, the perfect man, cried when He heard Lazarus had died even though He knew he was going to resurrect him.
There is nothing manly about hiding your emotions.
I believe the manly thing to do is to focus those emotions for good.
Yes, there will be great highs and lows as you experience emotion but they are what will power change and give you a deep, meaningful life.
-Andre
P.S. These emotions are also the driving force in evangelism.
But when He (Yeshua) saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them, because they were harassed and scattered, like sheep without a shepherd. -Matt 9:36
