It’s Just Like Riding A Bike
I remember learning to ride a bike.
I hated it!
My dad took me and my friend Aaron out to the park… Aaron knew how to ride a bike already…
I had some trouble picking it up.
I was told that only the people who could ride a two-wheeler could get ice-cream!
I wanted ice-cream.
I remember how awkward everything felt; how difficult everything was…
It took me what felt like forever but once I got it, I loved it! (The ice-cream wasn’t bad either)
Here’s my point:
Everything is difficult until it’s easy.
I’m learning a few new skills right now… most of which put me way out past my comfort zone.
It’s awkward;
It’s difficult;
For someone like me who likes to be the best at everything he does… it’s a humbling experience.
But this difficult time is the very thing I need to get to where I want to be.
And just like learning to ride a bike… once I get it… I will have a whole new set of skills that will eventually come as second nature to me.
How about you?
What have you been avoiding because it’s difficult?
What’s intimidating you?
What’s the thing you’ve been putting off because you aren’t sure you have the skill for it?
It’s time to face that fear.
Time to humble yourself, learn the skills you need and become a better person because of it.
Go earn that ice-cream.
