One Little Change With One Big Reward
So “Morning Routines” are all the rage right now.
It seems like every podcast interview I hear goes over how the interviewee starts their day.
I can’t blame them.
I love my morning routine. But as it turns out I’ve been doing it all wrong.
I recently switched up the order of things because I noticed the last thing (and most important) wasn’t getting done.
This is where a daily habit tracker comes in handy (I use a nerdy one cause, well, nerd: https://habitica.com)
Anyhow, my old routine used to go like this:
- Get coffee
- Read my Bible
- Write an email
- 5min Rebounding
- Pray
The logic was that I’d be able to pray without worrying about everything else I needed to get done and could spend as long as I’d like praying.
What actually happened was by the time I was done with everything else I was ready to start my day and I’d put off my prayer time…
and put it off…
and put it off some more… (You can see where this is going)
So that had to change.
My new routine goes like this:
- Coffee
- Prayer
- 5min rebounding
- Read my Bible
- Write an email
This way if I do put something off it’s my emails and not something that’s going to hurt me spiritually.
Let me tell you, I’ve had some of the best prayer times since switching things up… It’s like God’s just been waiting for me to finally spend some time with Him.
What about your morning?
Are you giving God the first portion of your day?
Do you have a morning routine or do you hit the snooze button until all you have time to do is get dressed and run out the door?
Let me know if you think there is something I should add/adjust to make my morning more productive.
